FAQ
What is Kestr?
Kestr is an app that maps happy hours, daily specials and live entertainment, from day drinking to last call. Venues appear on one map, and each one shows its deals, hours and what's on.
What can I find in Kestr?
Happy hours, food specials and drink specials; live entertainment; venue details including address, whether the venue is open, and how to get there; and new venues and specials as they're added.
How do I find something specific?
Search for what you want, such as wing night or half-price wine. Or use the filters: Now, Happy Hour, Food Special and Drink Special. Results show on the map.
How do I share a venue with friends?
Share any venue from its page through the native share sheet on iOS and Android. Send it by message to your friends, or post it on major social platforms. If your friends have Kestr installed, the link opens the venue in the app.
Can I book a table or get a ride?
Reservations: book a table through OpenTable, at participating venues. Launches October 28. Rides: Find a Ride opens Uber with the venue set as your destination. It appears when you're more than 150 m from the venue.
What are points, ranks and badges?
Points are earned by checking in and scanning specials, and they vary by action. Scanning menu items earns the most, once the draft is accepted as correct. Ranks run from Hatchling (5 points) to Apex (10,000 points). Badges include First Flight, Scout, Trailblazer and Master Scout, plus seven badges in bronze, silver and gold. Launches October 28.
What is the Flock?
The Flock is Kestr's leaderboard concept. It shows where you rank among other members, based on your points. Leaderboards are weekly, monthly and all-time.
Is Kestr free?
Kestr is free for consumers. Businesses that claim and manage their venue on Kestr can choose from several paid tiers, depending on their needs. More information for business users is at studio014.com/kestr.
Which platforms?
iOS (App Store) and Android (Google Play). Both get the same features.
How do specials get on the map?
Scan a paper menu, poster or sign with your phone. The app reads the text and creates draft specials, which go live after they're reviewed. Businesses can also add their own specials and events.
Can venue owners manage their listing?
Venue owners can claim their venue on Kestr and edit all venue details, including specials, events and basic business information. Integrations are the one feature that arrives with the October 28 launch.
Where is Kestr available?
Calgary and Vancouver, with more cities planned.
